Female bust in porcelain and bronze : an exceptional sculpture from the Art Nouveau period

Recently in my online store I sold an incredible and at the same time mysterious bust and I wanted to tell you this story because this can also concern you and happen to you in the world of Antiques and Art:

An enigmatic work

First of all before having it in hand, I had very little information about it, in fact to be completely frank, I had no information.

Before arriving in my house and according to what I had been told, this bust had landed with professional experts (supposedly in any case) with a storefront and who had estimated it at :  (drum roll)

 - Nothing..

Yes to nothing, they saw no particular interest in this thing placed on their table.

How is it possible ? How can people whose job it is can miss out on an expertise?.

First, there can be several explanations, without decrypting their work. 

An expert like a doctor can have a specialty, so he can be very good in a particular area and less good in an area that concerns him less.

Let's take the example: if an expert is specialized in painting and we ask him for an expertise on porcelain, he will be a little annoyed

Even within his specialty, if he specializes in classical painting of the 18th century and you present him with a modern work, it may well be the same form of artistic expression, he will also be annoyed

An expert is also a human with feelings, emotions and days without as it can happen to us in life.

A third possibility is: the expert recognized the value of the object but simply did not want it.

Indeed he may estimate that the market for this bust is difficult to place or sell at this time.
